Here at Tensley we believe in the importance of giving back to the community and support several organizations impacting our industry. Tensley is proud to support Armed Forces Communications Electronics Associate (AFCEA), Folds of Honor, the Salvation Army, The Academic Affiliate Program at Virginia Tech, as well as other local Universities.
Tensley is a corporate sponsor of the Central Maryland Chapter and is active on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Tensley is proud to support AFCEA’s mission, which supports STEM Education and Scholarships.
Folds of Honor
As a Service Disabled, Veteran owned company, Tensley is home to several retired members of our Armed Forces. It is very important for us to give back to those that have served our country. Each fall Tensley holds a charity golf tournament, The Tensley Cup, where all the proceeds are proudly donated to Fold’s of Honor. Since 2007, Fold’s of Honor has worked towards their mission of providing educational support for the spouses and children of fallen American soldiers.
Tensley is honored to support the Salvation Army by partaking in its Angel Tree program each holiday season. Our employees are encouraged to adopt a child (Angel) and provide gifts to make their holidays special. In 2015, Tensley employees made Christmas come true for over 20 children.
Academic Affiliates Program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Tensley is proud to be one of the first members of the Academic Affiliates Program. Our donations in their entirety, directly contribute to HUME Center scholarships. This allows students to directly participate in research and educational programs in cybersecurity and autonomy in the context of national and homeland security. Education programs provide mentorship, internships, scholarships, and seek to address key challenges in the federal service. Current research initiatives include cyber-physical system security, orchestrated missions, and the convergence of cyber warfare and electronic warfare. In 2015 Tensley had the pleasure of mentoring a PhD student focused on Software Defined Radios. We look forward to our future mentorship opportunities.
Tensley is proud to support and recruit from our local Maryland universities. Over the past several years we have recruited and hired students from UMBC, Goucher College, John’s Hopkins University, Towson University and University of Maryland. Tensley attends several events and job fairs throughout the year and hires students for summer internships and full time positions.
